It is more important than ever before for Americans to listen to their global neighbors, even though what they hear may be difficult to absorb. But getting this feedback is vital to both world and domestic security. Somehow as a society we have not yet developed sufficient communication channels where world citizens can talk to one another - not as governments to governments - but people to people. Talk to US creates a powerful channel that initiates the conversation: we, as interested Americans hereby invite our neighbors to talk to us, to tell us what's on their mind.
We believe that it is up to us - as Americans - to initiate a person-to-person dialogue with citizens across the globe, but we don't start the conversation by saying 'This is what we believe'. We start the conversation by asking, 'What do you have to say? We are ready to listen'.
